Jenny Proudfoot

I’m illustrator based in Edinburgh, Scotland, who loves to dabble in ink, pencil and splashy watercolour. With swirly bits.

I studied Illustration & Media Design at Edinburgh’s Telford College, then worked as a graphic designer. In 2013 I returned to my first love, illustration, and now specialise in maps and projects in the heritage sector. I occasionally work with pencil but more often in hand-drawn ink, scanned and layered with watercolour.

My clients include National Museums Scotland, The Democratic Society, D.C. Thomson, Historic Environment Scotland, Haymarket Publishing, The University of Edinburgh and numerous design agencies.

I chose a memoir by David Attenborough, using a warm, limited palate and angular, sepia coloured line work to evoke the 1950s. The iconic figure of young Attenborough surveys an African landscape, surrounded by lush foliage and a few of the animals he encountered on his adventures around the world.
