AOI London Illo Talks: Activism & Art with Yellowzine & Olivia Twist – Virtual Event

The AOI & London Illo Talks 2020 welcomes Aisha Ayoade, one of the co-founders of the art platform Yellowzine and illustrator and Lecturer Olivia Twist for an essential, online talk on creativity and activism in a challenging climate.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to gain some insight into the behind the scenes work which Aisha and her co-founder Oreoluwa do, as they champion the work of minority ethnic artists. Olivia will share some insights into her visual work and why she is determined to make the arts, heritage institutions and arts education more accessible and representative of their local communities.

Aisha and Oreoluwa Ayoade are the sibling founders behind Yellowzine – an art platform created to support and empower African, Caribbean and Asian diaspora artists in the U.K. Founded in 2017, the platform has featured illustrators, photographers and stylists across its print magazine, website, and exhibitions in a feat to increase representation of creatives from the diaspora in contemporary art.

Olivia Twist is an Illustrator, Arts Facilitator and Lecturer from east London with an MA in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art. The key threads in her work are place, the mundane and overlooked narratives. Her striking visual language comprises a myriad of esoteric layers informed by a propensity for human-centered research methodologies.
