Alt text are the words that you enter to describe a digital image.

By increasing your visibility online, great alt text can help you reach a wider audience, leading to new clients and paid commissions. Alt text can also make your work more inclusive and accessible, as alt text is also the most important way for visually impaired users to understand what your image is.

Alt text should be used on all digital images on websites and social media. However writing alt text can be a bit of an art. It is a balance of function; saying what it is, and emotion; conveying the feeling of your image.

The discipline of crafting great alt text can be surprisingly creative and open up new avenues for your creative work.

This session will look at what alt text is and why it is important. We’ll look at the practical steps of actually inputting alt text, before spending time looking at how to create great alt text for your own work.

Led by Jhinuk Sarkar this session will be friendly and fun. Jhinuk is a practicing illustrator and educator, with extensive experience of working with disabled artists and in access roles.
