Working it Out w/ Benjamin Phillips / Picture book meet-up

Join picture book makers Birgitta Sif and David Barrow for an (online) evening with award winning illustrator and author Benjamin Phillips, as he discusses the theme of ‘Working it Out’ relating to both the act of consciously making work as a way to generate ideas as well as trying to work out how one can exist as a maker of picture books.

Benjamin Phillips is an award-winning illustrator based in Hastings. From his studio he creates ceramics, drawings and paintings for a wide range of commercial and personal projects. His work on Alte Zachen by Ziggy Hanaor won the category of ‘Illustration for Children’ and the overall title of the Moira Gemmill Illustrator of the Year in the V&A Illustration Awards 2024. His latest publication, One Day by Michael Rosen is a powerful picture book based on the true story of an escape by members of the French resistance from a rail convoy bound for Auschwitz.

Benjamin will kindly be answering any questions you may have, as well as offering attendants an interactive insight into his creative process! So, bring pencils, paper and as much creativity as you can muster!
