Recycled Illustrations w/ Tom J Newell

Ay Up is delighted to be hosting a live workshop with Sheffield Artist and Illustrator Tom J Newell. Book below or via our Eventbrite.

Ay Up – an AOI meet-up for Sheffield illustrators – hosts an in-person workshop with Sheffield artist and illustrator Tom J Newell.

Tom J Newell is renowned for his intricate hand-drawn illustrations and recognisable bold monochromatic line-work.

Open to all illustrators, come along and join in with this relaxed workshop on how to make art from everyday recyclable graphics, similar to Tom’s signature Pantone cards, found wood and calendar pages, working on top of work can be tricky at first to let yourself go.

All you need to bring is yourself, and feel free to bring any personal paint markers you love to use.

Whilst you create, Tom will be talking about his work, how he has developed his style, gains commissions and later opening the floor for a Q&A.

The main event will finish at 9:30pm, with the room booked until 10pm.

…a bit more about Tom…

When he is not creating his epic pieces, you might find Tom spinning an impeccable selection of ancient rap records and bugged out psych beats down the local watering hole, with his murals covering half of Sheffield’s pub walls it’s near impossible to miss his presence across the city. Tom’s work has also been exhibited Internationally.

Select clients include: Dr. Martens, Kraken Rum, Jose Cuervo, Guinness, Dazed & Confused, Which? Magazine, Classic Rock Magazine, Metal Hammer Magazine, Alice Cooper, MF DOOM, Madlib, Lee Scratch Perry, Wu-Tang Clan, Die Antwoord, Sleaford Mods, Daniel Johnston.
