Jason Jameson: The Robin & The Fir Tree
The Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery presents an exhibition of drawings by the London-based, internationally renowned illustrator and director, Jason Jameson. The exhibition, ‘The Robin and the Fir Tree,’ brings together a collection of 38 original illustrations from Jameson’s children’s book of the same title.
This exhibition marks the first ever public showing of the complete set of The Robin and the Fir Tree’s original illustrations, and of Jameson’s work. Created over the course of ten years, Jameson’s book tells a lyrical tale of friendship and new life, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless Christmas classic, The Little Fir Tree. Influenced by the rich iconographies of Scandinavian Folk Art traditions, Jameson’s intricate pencil drawings are imbued with a sense of magic, charm and serene elegance.
To convey the story’s central message of new life, the exhibition is curated around themes of regeneration and renewal; even the drawings’ frames are handmade from recycled found materials.
Jason Jameson studied Illustration and Animation at the Royal College of Art and has extensive experience in concept and character development, design and animation direction. Jameson created Annie Award nominated animation series ‘Buddi’ and he is Co- Founder and Creative Director of Unanico Group.
Limited edition prints will be sold at the exhibition and proceeds from the sale will be donated to local primary schools in Fitzrovia and Soho, London.
