This meet-up is all about celebrating the creatives of the South Yorkshire area with an online chat to mark the season and close the year. We hope that this online get-together will be the spark for face-to-face illustrator meet ups in the South Yorkshire area in 2024.

South Yorkshire sits in a creative network of towns including Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Barnsley so the meet-up is intended to unite illustrators across this region.

Hosts: Sheffield based author and illustrator Kimberley Kay, who works as the brand Inspire by Kim, will be hosting the session alongside the AOI. Kim is helping get the South Yorkshire area illustrator community together with this initial online meet-up. We are keen to hear from those who may be interested in taking a lead or being part of a small group of people who run the area meet-ups.

The conversation will go with the flow of the attendees, but we’ll kick off by chatting about topics including:

• Organisation of present and past projects, gleaning tips from the group of what works when paper starts to bury your desk.
• Where people go for inspiration and find creative community – whether that is online, podcasts, or local meet ups – gathering recommendations with a view to creating a useful ‘go to’ resource.
• Upcoming events locally, art, illustration, creative, markets and so on, that may be of interest.
• Future meet up location, theme and speaker suggestions – and what considerations people need to factor in for those, and when they will be best timed.
