How to Create Compelling Characters with Wildseed Studios
Want to learn how to create compelling characters?
Join Wildseed Studios‘ Creative Director Jesse Cleverly as he dives into what engages audiences and gets them to root for your protagonist through thick and thin.
You’ll hear a fresh, illuminating perspective on how to illustrate complex, believable and flawed characters that will truly move your audience.
This session will be one hour in length and will be presented in a conversational style, with room at the end for a Q&A.
This workshop will be most beneficial to illustrators interested and/or working with narrative storytelling. This can include children’s book illustrators, comic book artists, storyboard artists, animators, among others.
Attendees can apply this new knowledge and skillset into an upcoming open call by Wildseed Studio this autumn. Last year they received over a thousand submissions, and selected projects were offered up to £10K of development funding. More information can be found here.
About Wildseed Studios
Wildseed Studios is a multi-award-winning UK production company. It’s founded by ex-Aardman and BBC/Royal Court alumni Miles Bullough and Jesse Cleverly, who shared the view that a limited pool of talent was getting fished ever harder with the inevitable result that much premium content was beginning to feel the same.
The rise of digital production and distribution technology also provided a new opportunity to identify a new generation of creative talent and fearlessly pilot their ideas at low cost, in order to showcase their voice to commissioners looking to innovate while hedging the risks of failure.
During the studio’s first three years, Wildseed’s produced 30 scripted pilots from unrepresented talent and got pickups in one form or another on 60% of them.
Clients include Netflix, BBC, Nickelodeon, Sky Kids, Disney XD and Frederator Networks Inc.
