Meet Ups, Online Events, TalksJoin picture book makers Birgitta Sif and David Barrow for an (online) evening with award winning illustrator and author Alexis Deacon, as he talks with us about the creation of his picture books and finding your voice.
Alexis Deacon has worked in publishing for over twenty years. He is best known for his book Beegu, which has become a fixture in schools nationwide. A new children’s theatre adaptation of Beegu will be on at the Unicorn Theatre in London from March of this year.
The creator of many picture books for younger children, such as Slow Loris, Croc and Bird and While You are Sleeping, Alexis is also the author and illustrator of the graphic novel trilogy The Curse of the Chosen. He has twice been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal and is a two time recipient of the New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award.
He is a regular teacher at Goldsmiths, University of London and Anglia Ruskin University on their Children’s Illustration MA programs.
Alexis will kindly be answering any questions you may have, as well as inviting you to share your creativity. So, bring along pencils, paper and as much creativity as you can muster!
