Fashion Illustration for beginners and improvers
Learn more about Fashion Illustration in a new practical workshop with AOI Member Niki Groom.
Niki will start the session by giving an overview of her career and showing attendees some of her original and digital artwork. She’ll then run you through a series of demonstrations and exercises using fineliner and marker pens starting with faces, then moving on to hair type, skin colour and body type where Niki will be supplying templates of two different bodies to work from. The next step will be looking at fabric, drape and pattern.
After lunch, Niki will demo how to use watercolour paint for her work and attendees will work on a final A3 piece using magazine tears and real clothing as inspiration. There will be promarkers, watercolour paint and fineliners on hand for all to use and Niki will be there to answer questions and give advice.
The course will be suitable for those doing GCSE Art subjects, Fashion & Textiles students / graduates and anyone interested in fashion illustration. Beginners who are interested just for fun are absoloutely welcome. The host is friendly, encouraging and passionate about the importance of great inclusive fashion imagery. Aiming for 12 attendees, this will be a small group.
Please note that during this workshop the focus will be on drawing women.
