Exploring the art of picture books w/ Katy & Chris Riddell

Meet Ups

Join Brighton’s illustrator meet-up ‘Flock’ for an evening chatting all things Picture Books and beyond with Katy and Chris Riddell. Book your ticket here!

Following the talk there will be some live drawing from both Katy and Chris, with an opportunity for you to get involved, creating artwork for your own book or project. Please remember to bring your sketchbooks!

 

Katy Riddell grew up in Brighton and was obsessed with drawing from a young age. Since graduating with a BA Hons in Illustration and Animation from Manchester Metropolitan University, she has worked on Pongwiffy, Midnight Feasting and The International Yeti Collective. She lives and works in Brighton.

Chris Riddell is an acclaimed artist of children’s books and a political cartoonist for the Observer. Amongst other titles, Chris illustrates the Ottoline young fiction series and the Goth Girl series, as well as working closely with Paul Stewart on the Edge Chronicles and Wyrmeweald. Children’s Laureate from 2015-2017, he has won many awards for his work, including the Nestlé Gold Award, the UNESCO Award for Something Else and the rare honour of three Kate Greenaway Medals.

 

Flock is a creative meet up for Brighton-based illustrators welcoming illustrators of any level. The meet-up is hosted by illustrator and designer Melanie Smith and supported by The AOI, a non-profit membership organisation for illustrators supporting the illustration industry.
