Expectations of the Past Exhibition – Louise Weir
An investigatory journey of memory, identity and loss – this exhibition is inspired and informed by one of Dickens’ best loved books Great Expectations.
The exhibition features some of the large digital works and sketchbooks works that were showcased at the earlier exhibition at the Dickens House Museum in 2018 and several new large scale mixed media drawings and sketchbook drawings/ painting produced on site around the Kent/ Gravesend area and in Louise’s studio in Hackney. Some of these are settings for key scenes in Great Expectations such as The Forge, Churchyard and Thames shoreline and also other landmarks such as Dicken’s home Gad’s Hill Place. The artworks are displayed alongside new poems written in conjuncture with these works.
