AOI Discusses: Using Art for Advocacy
Online EventsFrom illustrating campaigns and infographics to conversation starting pieces in the public realm. Book below or via our Eventbrite.
AOI Discusses, continues this season, with a session around art and its relationship with advocacy.
From illustrating campaigns and infographics to conversation starting pieces in the public realm, some illustrators have found a wider purpose in their work by utilising their art to push for meaningful change.
We discuss the approaches and experiences of two of our guest speaker-illustrators, working towards active changes through art.
Ananya Rao-Middleton is an award-winning illustrator and a passionate activist for disability rights.
Her impactful artwork serves to illuminate the often-unseen realities of individuals living with disabilities and chronic conditions. She has worked with a number of internationally well-known brands including Instagram, The Guardian, Teen Vogue and Adobe.
Jasmine Hortop is a Cornwall based freelance illustrator and muralist who uses her award-winning artwork to advocate for sustainability, conservation, and a connection to nature.
As well as illustrating on projects with a green focus, Jasmine also self-initiates her own longer immersive and co creation-led creative projects working with non-profits or charitable initiatives.
Her work and advocacy is a direct product of her environment and lifestyle, living on a small organic farm enables a closer connection to nature and the seasons, and she spends her free time either surfing, sea-swimming, helping out on the farm, and volunteering with local coastal and marine conservation projects.
A recording will be sent to all booked attendees after the live event.
