AOI Discusses: Surface Pattern Illustration
Online EventsFor this AOI Discusses, we’re exploring decorative surface pattern illustration and how your artwork can be applied across this area.
Decorative illustration has a wealth of applications, from fabrics and wallpapers to stationary and cards. But how do illustrators get into this area and what are the practical considerations to be aware of such as how the industry works alongside being aware of trends in the industry?
We invite our two experienced speakers to discuss the benefits of working in this area, their creation of artwork, and the best way to navigate the industry.
Jessica Eyre Originally working as an in-house designer for high-street brands before expanding into the world of pattern design, Jessica has designed for a variety of projects such as clothing, home decor, stationery and packaging. Her style is playful with a touch of humour.
Gail Myerscough is a surface pattern designer and illustrator, based in Manchester whose creative process is inspired by a passion for mid-century design, music and architecture. She creates designs that evoke a sense of nostalgia but with a modern twist. Gail has licensed and sold her designs worldwide.
