  • Why did you create this work?
I wanted to create a sequence of illustrations that could tell a story without words. Elkie and Croc came about in response to exploring the beautiful relationships that children can develop with people who may unexpectedly come into their lives, such as a loving step-parent. As Croc's love for Elkie grows, Croc also becomes larger than life.
  • How were your illustrations used?
I have used these illustrations for my own portfolio, and they have since sparked the interest of a publishing company.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
I drew the initial idea in pencil on paper and then rendered the work digitally through Procreate on the iPad.
  • Was this project commissioned?
    Un-commissioned

I am an Illustrator who was born and raised in England, moving to Australia in my early twenties. Since my childhood I have loved to draw since early childhood, thanks to the encouragement of my mother who was an artist and art teacher. I completed a Master of Arts in Drawing and Printmaking in 2005. Nowadays I enjoy using illustration as a tool to express my own whimsical and quirky ideas.
