The AOI works behind the scenes addressing bad practise and defending illustrators’ rights. This work is often done confidentially and the nature of the work means that it cannot be shared publicly.

In all our work we recognise that commissioners, agents and illustrators are co-dependent, and each balance complex business considerations in order to exist. We negotiate respectfully, and with the shared goal of a thriving industry for us all.

“We aim for a thriving industry for us all.”

Previous work has included:

Working with a UK publisher to amend their standard contract terms in illustrators favour
Working with a London based organisation to cancel a competition which should have been a commission
Working with a National UK newspaper to change their competition terms in favour of the illustrator
Working with a UK publisher to licence work with a formal contract as standard

If you are aware of bad practise, or unfair terms from commissioners, please contact us.

We are also able to support IPEC court cases in some instances. To find out more email us.
