Raven Zhou
The Lin Brothers

Children's Publishing

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
This series of illustrations is my personal work based on the novel The Lin Brothers by Zhang Tianyi, a famous Chinese children's novelist. The background story is about the adventures of the twin Lin brothers. I combined the subtle empty space in Chinese traditional painting with the whimsical anthropomorphism in Andersen's Fairy Tales and Grimm's Fairy Tales.

How was the illustration used:
Illustrations for book interior

How did you make this work:
I used traditional media, combining the Chinese ink wash and pen with watercolor.
