Nakrob Moonmanas
Adoration of the Magi

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I would like to bring my illustrations closer to the boundary of contemporary art. The inspiration of the artwork came from a myth of the Immaculate Conception of a Siamese princess turning into a legendary royal scandal in the Siamese--Victorian era. Reexamining history and reobserve relationship of the different cultural roots in the period of colonialism is my topic to explore in this artwork.

How was the illustration used:
I did this piece during my artist residency at Cité international des arts in Paris. I printed and exhibited it in my studio. Then I published it on my website and social media and plan to continue to make other artworks in the same series.

How did you make this work:
By technique of digital collage, Through the pictorial archives across multiple times and places, My artworks are made by juxtaposing local and outlandish fragments of history and visual culture with the touch of present-day aesthetic and the contemporary interpretation to make my own alternative narrative.
