This body of work was commissioned by the writer duo—sister and brother Luba and Eugene Ostashevsky who are professional writers and descendants of a survivor of the Siege of Leningrad . Victor, their grandfather, left a memoir about the years of his youth during the blockade and as a soldier at the Battle of Stalingrad .
How was the illustration used: I was asked to produce a preliminary cover design and 20 pages of narrative illustrations for the
graphic novel's prologue. Now the entire presentation package is in the submission process.
How did you make this work: All work was done digitally, but to evoke a hand-drawn, lithographic style echoing books of the Soviet Era of in the 1930’s and 1940’s and to celebrate the great graphic and illustration legacy of St. Petersburg (Leningrad).
