I got this commission job from a Chinese publisher, this publisher collects proses written by a late famous Chinese proser, Qingxuan Lin, to horned him. So this prose collection book includes twelve proses and these proses are all about his childhood memories. So I use a more poetic way to paint, trying to convey the beauty of nature and the happiness of childhood before.
How was the illustration used: These are inside illustrations for this prose book which is suited for 9-14 age children to read.
How did you make this work: I was touched when I read these articles before I paint, which resonate me and make me remember my childhood. So I generated many interesting ideas and made sketches in different compositions, then I discussed these sketches with the publisher, after this I did many colour tests and paint it in Photoshop.

Jiatong Liu is a Chinese illustrator based in London right now, he currently studies at Kingston University for his master degree. As a young talented illustrator, he did many illustrations for editorials, child publishes, magazines and beauty brand. He loves to explore different materials and focus on storytelling, his beautiful colour and poetic scenes make people engaged in his fantasy.
