Creating the cover illustration for Shop Magazine's 'Istanbul' issue, Gildersleeve discussed the historic palaces in Istanbul. A multi layered cityscape scene, in which a selection of the palaces from the feature article would appear. Inspired by traditional Turkish tiles came the colour palette, along with design elements, such as the waves.
