Why did you make this work:
This piece is a portrait of my friend, Grant. It is about his journey to Japan to study coral and the navigation of a different cultural social life.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
Adobe Illustrator was used to create this image.

How were your illustrations used:
This was an assignment for a class to create a portrait without drawing a portrait in the traditional sense.

Biography:
Jerilyn Lee is an illustrator and designer based in the Bay Area in California. She is a recent graduate of ArtCenter College of Design with a BFA in Illustration. Her creative process is heavily based on narratives that stem from experiences from her life. Although she uses many different mediums she maintains a consistent voice throughout her pieces.
