In July 2009, 25-year-old illustrator and AOI member, Amie Howarth, was admitted into an eating-disorders clinic after completing a post-grad at the London Institute of the Arts, she chronicled her three-month stay with a visual diary, using watercolours, pen, ink and embroidery. The diary charts the admission, and although she is still fighting her 14 year-long battle, it provides an insight into the disorder, and diminishes the notion that illness makes you a victim. The work is sometimes wry and often moving.
