I’m an illustrator and advertising creative, originally from Italy.
My family is from Sicily, an island in the South, but I was born in the North, near Milan so while growing up, I missed the sea every day. Nine years ago, I decided to set up a life in Hackney so that feeling of longing for the sea kept growing. I’ve become a bit obsessed with drawing scenes inspired by the Sicilian coast as soon as I started drawing. Sometimes it’s more accurate, sometimes it’s more abstract. Everything about those scenes is suspended, mysterious but always quite peaceful. It’s key to create a composition that makes you feel what you feel when you look at a sunset, or at the sea on a sunny day.
As much as I naturally gravitate towards abstract scenes and landscapes, I love flexing with different subject matters and less abstract topics. I’ve been working a lot with hand-lettering too, which I truly love.
My experience in advertising as a Creative and Art Director for the past 11 years has made me very familiar with the process of responding creatively to a client brief without forgetting the business/strategic needs and mandatories. That also means I can come up with a fully fledged idea and not only create a piece, if required.
