The Association of Illustrators (The AOI), in partnership with the Directory of Illustration, is delighted to announce the return of the World Illustration Awards exhibition to Somerset House this summer.
An independent jury of 24 industry insiders, including Josephine Kelliher, Art Program Manager at Facebook EMEA, Simon Khalil, Editor at Arab News and Kirstie Johnstone, Creative Production Partner at AMV BBDO, have judged over 3,600 submissions from 68 different countries to select a shortlist of 200 of the very best entries reflecting the cultural importance of contemporary illustration across the world.
The exhibition showcases the work of emerging and established illustrators from around the globe. Featuring an extraordinary range of illustration practice – across vibrant industry sectors such as Advertising, Children’s Books, Design and Research – the exhibition reveals the innovative processes, techniques and media employed by illustrators today to communicate their ideas. From cutting edge digital, virtual reality, animation to handmade pieces drawing on traditional craft techniques, visitors will find something thought-provoking and inspiring.
“WIA is a highly respected and hugely visible platform, important to the world of professional illustrators, art directors and students, but also with cross-over appeal to a growing audience worldwide.” – Sam Arthur, CEO Nobrow
The Overall winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Somerset House on 10 July.
