ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
I was sent to learn Chinese paintings when I was 4 but could not understand it. Working as illustrator in London now, I went back to China and visited some villages which reminded me the paintings I used to draw, I start to appreciate the fineness and beauty in it. In this project, I explored my illustration style with some Chinese painting techniques to depict those landscape I saw in China.
How was the illustration used: Portfolio works, self-promotion prints.
How did you make this work: My illustration style has been very vibrant with a purple tone. In this project, I experimented with the symbolic cyan blue and green from Chinese paintings. I also added some fine thin lines on the hills, but still used my usual dash lines for water. The long horizontal clouds was also inspired for the long thin clouds shapes in those paintings.
