This is a wordless sequence in a concertina format that push me to think differently about composition and narrative.
How was the illustration used:
This concertina book was one of my graduation projects for my MA course in children's book illustration.
How did you make this work:
A limited colour palette was used to focus the attention in the characters' shapes and their actions throughout the sequence. Printed at home following a process of "digital screen print", first printing in full colour the yellow and orange and then printing in gray scale the black and grays.

Yoss Sanchez is an illustrator, children's book maker and 2D animator based in San Jose, Costa Rica.
She studied Digital Animation at Veritas University (Costa Rica, 2017); and recently she graduated from her Masters degree in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin (England 2020)
Working as a full-time illustrator represented by Astound Illustration Agency, she has worked in many commercial projects, non-fiction educational books and activity books, for clients in the US, UK and Asia.
Drawing inspiration from movies, old pictures, nature and the "slice of life" genre, Yoss’ artwork is mainly digital, characterized by vibrant and colourful palettes with a strong sense of design. She also likes to experiment with screen print and collage.
