Usage: I illustrated the complete Year Review issue of Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin with around 30 illustrations.
Process: The editors provided me with around 70 topics of the year, I choose 30 to illustrate. Initial roughs digital in Photoshop and on my phone and with pens in my sketchbook. Drafts in Photoshop. Finals digital in Clip Studio and Photoshop.
Materials: Adobe Photoshop CS6, Celsys Clip Studio Paint Ex 1.5.4, Wacom Companion
Formats: 22 x 28 cm (Size of the magazine) 600 dpi
Brief Requirements: Show the events of the year. Don't show it too dark (as it was a really dark year). Show a side of humour.
Key Brief Ideas: Surreal, aesthetic. A a good rhythm of double spreads, one pagers and smaller ones. Each topic with its own color scheme to set it as a unique event and to create an issue rich on variety. Overall message (specially for the cover): We haven't been nice to the year 2016. We could do better.
