The storyboard for this picture book was created during my studies at the Lucerne School of Art and Design, as part of a Module called Visual Narrative. After my graduation I presented the story to a publishing house based both in Switzerland and in New York, called NordSüd / NorthSouth Books. They liked the project and commissioned me to create the book for Autumn 2020.
How was the illustration used: The four spreads submitted are part of the middle section of the book. In total the book has 24 images.
How did you make this work: The illustrations are made with watercolour paint on a cold press watercolour paper, hence the texture. In addition to that I did some digital painting and final tweaking on photoshop.

Biography:
Taltal Levi was born in the Galilee, Israel. She graduated from Lucerne University of Arts and Design with a degree in illustration, and currently works and lives in Basel, Switzerland. From a young age she used drawing as a tool to liberate herself from reality’s hardship and dullness. Taltal loves telling stories about characters who embrace their vulnerabilities and overcome obstacles. Her narratives incorporate fantasy elements and draw inspiration from nature, animals and her own childhood memories.
