Why did you make this work:
This illustration shows a lone character trying to escape from different rooms, looking for the Utopia. Those rooms represent a series of disasters occurred in 2020, such as COVID-19, fires, floods, earthquakes etc. These disasters have made us overwhelmed. We want to escape from that chaos to find the Utopia. I also hope this work will warn us to rethink our relationship with our surroundings.

How did you make this work:
I was inspired by Bong Joon-ho's film “Parasite” as well as M.C. Escher’s paintings, which both show contradictory spaces and extremely difficult to escape from. I created nine rooms for this work, eight individual difficulties but one hope—the Utopia. Even though we are suffering right now, there is always a light in the darkness. The pandemics will disappear eventually, the sun will rise again.
