Nordic Happiness

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
During the Christmas holiday in 2017, I traveled to Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Before the trip, one thing I could imagined in my mind was the freezing cold winter days. However, what awaited me there were the beautiful encounters with people, life and landscape. I called them Nordic Happiness.

How was the illustration used:
Zine

How did you make this work:
This zine was printed by Riso. For me, it's the precious experience to try an entirely different printing process. The miniature horseshoe on the cover was a gift from the Northern Lights tour in Rovaniemi. In Finland, people melt a horseshoe-shaped lead or tin, then dropping into cold water to interpret the shape. Therefore I drew a heart-shaped resulting shape to express "Nordic Happiness".
