The Kingdom of Serious & The Kingdom of Silly

Why did you make this work:
I set a challenge to myself to create 2 different worlds in one children's book - a serious world and a silly world, while making both similar enough to co-exist in one book. I used one colour palette, but I used the darker shades from my palette for the serious world, and also used mostly square shapes. The silly world uses lighter shades from that same palette, and rounder shapes.

How was the illustration used:
Created for a children's book tbp mid 2020, about a prince from the Kingdom of Serious, who wants to have some fun. He sails away from the oh-too-serious kingdom and reaches the Kingdom of Silly, where he meets the princess of Silly. He learns to stand on his head, he experiences tickling for the first time in his life. The two become friends and take the best of the two world to their homes.
