Sarah Papworth
Conte d'antan

Book Covers

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
A commissioned piece for Fleurus Editions Publishing in Paris, France. I enjoyed finding interesting ways to combine a few elements of the story within the one image and to create a mood for the short stories book. I hadn't previously created children's story book illustrations so it was an interesting and exciting project for me.

How was the illustration used:
The illustration was for the book cover of the book titled: Contes d'Antan by Louise Franchi. I created the internal illustrations too.

How did you make this work:
Through a mixture of hand and digital tools. First sketching in pencil for the rough piece, I then scanned in the drawings to work within Adobe Photoshop. To add texture and interest I used painted textures created by hand to fill areas and Photoshop brushes for the final details.
