Ruby Sgueglia
A Disappearance

Exploration

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
This work was a part of a larger personal challenge to illustrate some of my favorite short stories from the book Song For the Unraveling of the World by Brian Evenson using only one image. This particular image illustrates the story "The Disappearance", focusing specifically on the point in the story where the solution to the murder mystery was revealed.

How was the illustration used:
The illustration was intended to function as a portfolio piece.

How did you make this work:
This work was mostly completed in gouache with acrylic and oil pastel details on the surface. Because of the challenges associated with photographing acrylic paintings the image was finished in Procreate to remove any glare and clean up some edges.
