Place, Spaces, Work: The Creative Industries in London

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
The illustrations had to represent particular uses of architecture in London by the creative industries. We were asked to examine three typologies of space which highlighted how London’s mixed stock of buildings has been appropriated and customised over and again to house creative innovators and allow businesses to thrive.

How was the illustration used:
The drawings were commissioned as part of the publication 'Place, Spaces, Work: The Creative Industries in London'. They were exhibited at the 2017 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism and will be exhibited in London in February 2018.

How did you make this work:
Publica is a London-based public realm and urban design practice that brings crosscutting research and intelligence to the process of urban change. The illustrations are the outcome of fieldwork, interviews and research examining architectural typologies and creative uses. They represent our in-depth analysis of the buildings whilst amplifying the activities within. Camera, pen, digital.
