I was asked by Penguin Random House to design a consistent series of book covers including illustration and type design for the collected works of Irish author Donal Ryan, and also for his forthcoming novel Strange Flowers.

How did you make this work:
The illustrations were created using a combination of traditional watercolour painting and digital editing on Photoshop. I painted the pieces using only one colour of watercolour to allow me to focus on depth and composition. I then edited the piece digitally to introduce colour and additional depth through scanned in found textures. The text was traced in pencil and scanned in to add frailty. Commissioner Name :
