ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
Snuffles, scrapes, rustling, hoots and grunts. I wanted to celebrate some of the diversity and beauty of the animals that live in the UK. I'm always so excited when I catch an unexpected glimpse into the life of one of these creatures. Spotting a fox sunning itself in my garden. Lurking at night, in wait for a hedgehog to come hunting for scraps of food. Freaking out momentarily when a frog jumps
How was the illustration used: A large poster for an exhibition in South East England, curated with work related to nature or the environment
How did you make this work: Created digitally using Photoshop and Illustrator. I like playing around with stylisation and simplification in character development, especially using geometry to do so. I used a limited colour palette and bold shapes to make the piece stand out at a large poster scale. I wanted the piece to be cohesive as a whole but with smaller details and stories embedded within it.
