This was for the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It was an open brief to illustrate the cover and inside of a feature about the negative effect of social media on young people's self-image
How was the illustration used: The cover of the opinion section in De Volkskrant
How did you make this work: I start the process with some very rough conceptual ideas because the deadlines for the these features are very short. I then work straight in Illustrator and finish off details in Photoshop.

Biography:
Nathalie Lees is a London based illustrator. She worked in-house at The Times newspaper, an experience which allowed her to hone her skills in editorial illustration, before leaving to set up her freelance career. Her work focuses on distilling complex ideas and narratives intoTheir most simple forms. Her use of bold colours and graphic compositions aim to create striking and arresting images.
