Naomi Tipping
Ruby and Bird - A Modern Folktale.

Children's Publishing

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I used the prompts from Folktale Week on Instagram as an opportunity to produce some interesting sequential imagery, suitable for older children. I wanted the main character to have ASD, without saying so in the text, and for the theme to be ambiguous and thought provoking. These are five images from a set of seven.

How was the illustration used:
Self promotion - to build my children's portfolio.

How did you make this work:
I used a mixture of ink, printed textures, and hand drawn elements, as well as photographs of the origami boat, and collaged these digitally.
