Mogens’ Book Cover

Image Type: Single Image

Usage: Book cover

Process: The publisher emailed me the text. I had a few days to read the book and think about what I wanted to show at the book cover. Then I drew some sketches at my notebook. I showed them to the publisher and then I made the final art using Adobe Photoshop.

Materials: Photoshop

Formats: 13 cm x 21 cm

Brief Requirements: Open brief. Jens Peter Jacobsen was a Danish novelist, poet, and scientist, in Denmark. He began the naturalist movement in Danish literature and was a part of the Modern Breakthrough. Mogens is a tale of a young dreamer and his maturing during love, sorrow and new hope of love. For the book cover I made a scene inspired by the beginning of the tale. The writer made a detailed description of the forest where the main character is in. Suddenly he realize that someone is very close, a young woman trying to catch her red scarf from a branch. Then, the love story begins.

Key Brief Ideas: I really loved the atmosphere of the book, and I wanted to make a very rich composition based on the descriptions of the landscapes.  For the book cover I made a scene inspired by the beginning of the tale. The writer made a detailed description of the forest where the main character is in. Suddenly he realize that someone is very close, a young woman trying to catch her red scarf from a branch.
