Why did you make this work:
HI, I'm Meichen, but you can just call me April.I'm focusing on creating a vulva character to represent both women and vulva in a more direct and clear way. And I‘m working on combining feminist social issues with graphic novel to reflect the common social phenomena. I also explore plus size female body, and support no-standard beauty.

How was the illustration used:

How did you make this work:
I weaken the shape of the human body and focusing on building the character of female genitals, and creating a graphic novel that reflects the most common feminist social issues ‘rape’ with a vagina as the main character. I use the embroidery to present my work because I have added some stereotype elements about gender in my graphic novel. For example, blue and pink, skateboards, and embroidery.

Biography:
I am an illustrator and artist based on China. I obtained a master's degree at the University of Arts, London in 2018. My research focuses on the representative of the female genitalia in the graphic narrative. I have been focusing on combining graphic novels and illustrations with feminist social issues through my postgraduate studies.
