ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
I tried to capture the surreal nature of the American present back then in October 2020, along with the idea of neglect, anxiety, and chaos. Surgical gloved hands symbolize attempts to fight the virus: they are trying to hold everything together/keep balance, but they’re being overwhelmed by the complete mismanagement and the virus itself, symbolized by the surrounding, swallowing dark.
How was the illustration used: The New York Times Opinion Page Article
How did you make this work: The illustration was digitally drawn with a Wacom tablet.
