Why did you make this work:
I was commissioned to create a Ukrainian edition of the new Finnish novel "Dog Park", written by Sofi Oksanen. This book is very special for me because the story takes place in my homeland.

How was the illustration used:
Published Ukrainian edition of the novel "Dog Park" by Finnish writer Sofi Oksanen.

How did you make this work:
I drew this cover using some ink and gouache painting and then added some digital details. My goal was to make the reader feel trapped and in despair, that's why all graphics are dark and blurred. Colors are a careful choice too: black is for coal of Western Ukraine and blue is a metaphor for Finland, where our main heroine is hiding from her past. Also, I made a huge accent on lettering here.
