The mural was designed for Jianye District Government in Nanjing, China. The mural faces a civic square. I designed this mural to light up the environment of the civic square, so that people can exercise and chat in a colorful environment. Jianye District has strong musical, literary and sporting atmosphere, and I tried to reflect that in the illustration.
How was the illustration used: This is a mural. The wall faces a small civic square. The mural puts people in a happy mood to exercise and makes more pedestrians passing by stop and stay.
How did you make this work: The mural is about 30 meters long and 2.4 meters high, painted by brushes and rollers on the wall with pigment paste. The whole mural is divided into 3 parts, the girl playing violin on the left echoes the atmosphere of music in Jianye District, the girl reading in the middle echoes the atmosphere of literature, and the girl archery on the right echoes the atmosphere of sports.

Linsen Fan is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Nanjing, China. He graduated from Nanjing University of Technology with a degree in Architectural Design. After working as an architect for several years, he co-founded Soitis Studio, a graphic design studio based in Nanjing, China.
