Lauren Emmons
Wee Thee Vikings Gallery

Site Specific

Commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
I was approached by the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, MN to create a new children's gallery that would coincide with their new exhibition: The Vikings Begin. This children's gallery would use historical facts about the viking culture to create an educational and lively place for families to play.Photos of the gallery courtesy of: Andrea Rugg Photography

How was the illustration used:
These illustrations were used as the designs for the new children's gallery at the American Swedish Institute. They were attached to the walls, and served as the setting for imaginative play.

How did you make this work:
I created these pieces with a mixture of traditional mediums. I began each piece with a base of watercolor, layering on copic markers, gouache, and color pencils.
