Lauren Emmons
The Library Cat

Children's Publishing

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
In my module, the Diploma Project, we were tasked to create a story based around a specific age range. For my book, I wanted to create a story that centered around a cat who tries to enter a public library. The images submitted are spreads created for this story.

How was the illustration used:
These illustrations will be used as spreads in a children's book.

How did you make this work:
I created this work using traditional and digital media. It was a challenge to myself to create work just using two colors, i.e. two layers. I began with a pencil drawing, and translated that into a two color digital illustration using techniques derived from screen printing.
