ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
I painted this mural at the Ukkadam Art District in Coimbatore, produced & curated by St+Art India. The pandemic lockdowns have had a profound impact on all of our lives. Here we explored how it changed the relationship people have with their household objects. I picked up ordinary overlooked utility items and used them as motifs in my illustration.

How was the illustration used: Mural in Coimbatore, India, aiming to spark a conversation in the society.
How did you make this work: We interviewed the colony residents about the impact of lockdown on them and what the community now associates with their veedu/home. Things that were usually in the background of their lives took a front seat and occupied more space in their homes & minds. Ordinary items like plastic chairs, water pots, utensils shone. While TV & phones acted as portals to escape to a fantasy land in tough times.
