Jess McGeachin : The Tree at Number 43

Children's Publishing

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
Like many people, I live in a city and long to get out in nature whenever I can. I wrote and illustrated the Tree at Number 43 to show that communities can have a positive impact on the environment around them and that you're never too small to make a difference.

How was the illustration used:
A 32 page picture book

How did you make this work:
This story is about a tree growing up through a house. To understand what the house might look like I built a series of models to draw from and kept a sketchbook of trees in my local area. I was also inspired by graphic novels to depict the growth of the tree in the story.
