ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
I work for a greetings card company called Woodmansterne Publications Ltd and we were asked to create a range that was more current and relevant to how we feel into days world. I choose to look more into feminism and how strong women have stood up and made themselves be known. I felt like this topic was being more and more spoken about, especially on social media and through the ME2 movement.
How was the illustration used: The artwork was used as greetings cards, that were sold in many John Lewis stores throughout the United Kingdom. I wanted the cards to be bought to give inspiration and a heart warming message. To help someone feel good about themselves when they were receiving them.
How did you make this work: I started off sketching the four portraits and then using photoshop and watercolours to colour them up. The card finish has gold foil on the border, and a gold foil speckled dusting behind the portraits. The greetings card are printed on our industrial in house press.
