Book Covers

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
This was the third of four redesigned covers for Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series (including the prequel book) that I designed and illustrated for my fall senior thesis. I wanted to highlight the unique arenas described in each book while still incorporating small details hidden throughout the sceneries that avid fans would recognize.

How was the illustration used:
This illustration was intended to be used as a hardcover dust jacket. It is the third book cover in a series of four that were designed to be packaged together as one unit.

How did you make this work:
This cover was illustrated using Procreate and digital brushes to emulate traditional watercolor textures. The text was inserted using InDesign so that the final printed copy could have the title and author printed in gold foil. The set of four books, when placed in order, create a continuous spine illustration, so that when viewed on a shelf a city landscape appears.
